Stella
The endogastric balloon that guarantees a fast, easy and safe implantation
This sleeve, which protects the ball and facilitates its placement, is attached to the introduction channel, through which the guide wire passes.
The probe that allows the balloon to be implanted in the gastric cavity of the patient has a double lumen.
One of the lumens acts as a feeding channel for the balloon once the stylet has been removed, which must be in place during the insertion maneuver, and the other allows the guide wire, previously inserted endoscopically, to slide inside and guide the Stella® device into the patient, with smoothness and speed.
The duration of treatment is approximately 6 months, after which the balloon must be removed, with an expected weight loss in average about 14,5 Kg*.
*Mean weight loss derived from a multicenter clinical trial performed in 2022-2023 (N=69).
Implantation of the endogastric balloon
The intervention is carried out within a multidisciplinary program, integrating endoscopists, psychologists and nutritionists to guarantee success and results in the short and long term.
The procedure, that can be done in the endoscopy room with sedation, tends to take a shorter duration than that of conventional balloons given the ease of insertion of the balloon thanks to the double lumen probe and the guide wire.
1.
Previous examination of the gastric cavity using an endoscope and introduction of the guide wire up to the beginning of the duodenum-
2.
Removal of the endoscope and introduction of the Stella® device through the guide wire into the gastric cavity.
3.
Removal of the introducer, insertion of the endoscope and filling the ball.
4.
Removal of the guide wire and the probe releasing the balloon into the gastric cavity and endoscopic examination and removal of the endoscope.
